The National Water Hygiene scheme is recognised by the UK water industry as a vital part in ensuring the protection of public health and promoting safe drinking water practices. It is a criminal offence to supply water unfit for human consumption.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Created in 2006, the 'Blue Card' replaced all water company specific hygiene schemes and removed the need for workers to undergo separate testing, health screening and to carry multiple cards. Water companies across the UK now mostly mandate the use of the National Water Hygiene card for anyone entering a clean water site or engaged in operations on the clean water network, whether in contact with the water or not.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Milo Purcell, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Drinking Water Inspectorate comments: \"It is important for anyone working in contact with the water supply, to learn and fully understand their responsibilities to protecting public health and public confidence in drinking water quality. The Drinking Water Inspectorate expect all those involved to operate to the highest standards of hygiene and safety, ensuring that clean drinking water remains wholesome and there is no deterioration to the quality of supply.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n

It is increasingly expected that all those handling water for human consumption, including contractors, facilities management organisations, environmental health practitioners, water engineers, plumbers etc. also carry a 'Blue Card' to demonstrate competence and their understanding of safe water hygiene practice.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Any person working on a restricted operations area at sites such as service reservoirs, water pumping stations, water treatment works, wells, springs and boreholes or working on the network of water mains and service pipes must be in possession of a National Water Hygiene card. The same training package is delivered to both direct employees of water companies, and all contractors that work on the restricted operations sites including self-lay organisations working on new developments<\/p>","course_info":"

The National Water Hygiene training protects the safety of water through good hygiene practices while working on restricted operations as defined in the technical guidance notes:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The premise that water is a food product and the public expect their water supply to have been treated properly so that it does not cause health problems.<\/li>\r\n\t
The importance of personal hygiene and identification of potential sources of contamination.<\/li>\r\n\t
Awareness of potential for contamination. Includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the need for clean boots.<\/li>\r\n\t
Vehicles - vehicles need to be kept clean and tidy and tools need to be separated. Awareness of where the vehicle has been taken before entering a treatment works e.g. fields, sewage treatment works etc.<\/li>\r\n\t
Multi-functional working - water and sewerage working is becoming common for some companies and the associated risks must be understood.<\/li>\r\n\t
Fuel, diesel and chemical contamination - any of these getting into the water could have detrimental affects.<\/li>\r\n\t
Pets could help to spread water borne diseases e.g. dogs, cats, horses etc - ensure that individuals do not wear the same footwear for work.<\/li>\r\n\t
Chlorine\/disinfection, both in the water itself and other usage i.e. how chlorine is used to wash boots, clean tools and in repairs, and the correct disposal of chlorine solution.<\/li>\r\n\t
Awareness and usage surrounding approved products. The right substance for the job<\/li>\r\n\t
Awareness of the sampling and audit processes in place by various bodies.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n

The registration and card lasts for three years from date of training and provides on-site evidence that an individual has demonstrated an appropriate level of knowledge and awareness with regards to hygiene issues. Health Screening<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n
A standardised health screening questionnaire must be completed by any person required to work on restricted operations. This includes staff working on the water network, water treatment works, taking water quality samples etc, i.e. anyone that the water company considers could come in contact with treated water.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Answers on the form that suggest the individual maybe carrying a water borne disease will require the individual to be referred to their doctor or occupational health department for checks. The trainer will make the final decision on whether to allow the individual to carry out the training course. The individual must pass the health screening before they can be registered for the National Water Hygiene card and will not be issued a card until both the health screening and the test have been passed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
How do I get an EUSR National Water Hygiene 'Blue Card'?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n
Registration is based on successful completion of a training course. Upon successful completion a cover note will be issued by the trainer and trainees will be registered on the EUSR. Once the necessary paperwork and payment have been received the National Water Hygiene card will be issued within 28 days. The training session is expected to last for approximately half a working day and comprises a trainer lead presentation, a health screening aspect and a multiple choice test. EUSR SHEA Water Course Overview<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
The Safety Health and Environment Awareness portfolio of schemes have been developed in conjunction with industry to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the utilities sector, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The water scheme is designed for all individuals involved in the operational activities of the water industry who require access to sites, both permanent and temporary, including all levels of operatives, supervisors and management. A SHEA Water card lasts for three years from the date of training.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
SHEA Water comprises of eight modules. The six core modules are common to all utility industries and form the basis of health, safety and environmental law and practices. A further two modules provide the water industry specific content, all individuals will need to complete all eight modules to receive the SHEA Water registration. It is designed to provide evidence that an individual has demonstrated an appropriate level of knowledge and awareness. It is a passport scheme and does not indicate any level of technical competence or skilled expertise.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Responding to emergencies<\/p>\r\n\r\n
This module develops individuals' understanding of emergency response behaviours, the role of reporting, inspection and enforcement of health & safety in the workplace. How do I get an EUSR Card?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Entry requirements<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
There are no formal entry requirements for this course; however, it has been developed for construction supervisors and this should therefore be considered before enrolling delegates onto this course. Delegates must be competent in English at site supervisor level.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Learner Numbers<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
The minimum number of delegates per course is 4. The maximum number of delegates per course is 20. These are stipulated by the awarding body and are not subject to appeal.<\/p>","assessment":"

Assessment will be by multiple-choice questions at the end of the course. It is also expected that delegates interact during the course.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Exam Details<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
The examination paper is compulsory and consist of 25 questions: 22 multiple choice questions and 3 multiple response questions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The examination pass mark is 80% (24 out of 30).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
It forms the basis of assessment as to whether or not a delegate has successfully achieved a satisfactory level of health and safety awareness for a certificate of achievement to be issued.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The examination lasts for 30 minutes and must be completed within this time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Delegates are permitted to use Construction site safety \u2013 Book E (GE 700Es) <\/em>for the last 10 minutes of the examination period.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Re-sits Procedure<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
Where a delegate has achieved 70%-77% (21, 22 or 23 out of 30) in the examination, the delegate may re-sit the examination. This can either be on the same day or by resitting the exam by attending another course on the final day within a 90 day period (the delegate is not obliged to re-do the day\u2019s course).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The training provider must make arrangements with the delegate and ensure that the same examination paper is not used twice.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Subsequent arrangements will be at the delegate\u2019s own expense.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Should a delegate fail the re-sit, they will be required to attend the full SEATS course again, or will be offered an alternative course which is considered to match the delegate\u2019s level of knowledge and understanding.<\/p>","certification":"

SMSTS Course Overview<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
This SMSTS course is designed for site managers, agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
This SMSTS is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
SMSTS Aims and Objectives<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
To help site managers to:<\/p>\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions, and within the context of their management<\/li>\r\n\t
develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety and welfare<\/li>\r\n\t
recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical and productive<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n
At the end of the period of training, delegates will be aware of, and able to implement or state:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their daily work<\/li>\r\n\t

SMSTS Entry Requirements<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
Delegates should hold or be about to hold the role of a manager. Delegates must be competent in English at site management level.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The minimum number of delegates per course is 4. The maximum number of delegates per course is 20. These are stipulated by the awarding body and are not subject to appeal.<\/p>","assessment":"
Assessment<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
Assessment will by an exam paper and the completion of core exercises and a case study. The examination demonstrates to external bodies that the certificate is only awarded to successful delegates following both an assessment and examination. Delegates are expected to be interactive during the course.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Exam Details<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
The examination paper is compulsory and consists of 25 questions, selected by CITB, covering all aspects of the course.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The examination pass mark is 81% (26 out of 32).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The paper consists of 18 multiple choice questions and 7 questions in multi-response or short written answer format. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
The exam paper forms part of the overall assessment as to whether or not the delegate has successfully achieved the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate, and demonstrated both knowledge of the relevant statutory provisions and the application of management, in respect of health and safety issues.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The examination lasts for 35 minutes and must be completed within this time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Delegates are permitted to use the Construction site safety <\/em>(GE 700) publication and the XA6 course notes for the last fifteen minutes of the examination period.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Re-sits Procedure<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
Where a delegate has completed the four core exercises and the trainer\u2019s review, and gained between 72%-78% (23, 24 or 25 out of 32) in the examination, then they may re-sit the examination. This can either be on the same day or be resitting the exam by attending another course on the final day within a 90 day period (the delegate is not obliged to re-do the course).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The training provider must make arrangements with the delegate and ensure that the dedicated re-sit examination paper is used.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Subsequent arrangements will be at the delegate\u2019s own expense.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Should a delegate fail the re-sit, they will be offered to take the SMSTS course again.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
When a delegate scores less than 69% (22 correct answers out of 32) in the final examination, the delegate must attend the full SMSTS course again before they are allowed to re-sit the examination.<\/p>","certification":"
You will receive a CITB SMSTS digital PDF Certificate valid for 5 years. It takes approximately 5 working days for the CITB to issue certification.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
To ensure you keep your qualification valid, you must attend the 2 day SMSTS Refresher course before the expiry date of your SMSTS certificate (there is no grace period available).<\/p>\r\n\r\n

EUSR国家水卫生课程概述
