The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Regulation 10 requires every employer to ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to their employees who are or who are liable to be exposed to asbestos, or who supervise such employees.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This syllabus is concerned only with Asbestos Awareness Training as per paragraphs 232 and 233 of the associated Approved Code of Practice and shall be defined as Category \u2018A\u2019 Asbestos Awareness Training.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This would normally include, but is not limited to, trade operatives such as demolition workers, construction workers, general maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters and decorators, joiners, shop fitters, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, computer installers, fire and burglar alarm installers, architects, building surveyors and other such professionals or any other persons likely to disturb and carry out work on asbestos containing materials as defined in CAR 2012.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    UKATA Non Licensable Work with Asbestos Course Overview<\/h2>\r\n\r\n

    To provide the learner with the theoretical and practical skills to undertake non-licensed works with ACM\u2019s. Persons requiring this type of training would include trade operatives undertaking tasks with ACM\u2019s as defined in HSG210 and in accordance with CAR 2012 Reg 3(2).<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    Persons requiring this type of training would include those whose work will knowingly disturb low risk asbestos containing materials, such as maintenance workers and their supervisors; and those who carry out asbestos sampling and analysis.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    In addition to the Asbestos Awareness, those employees whose work will knowingly disturb ACMs, and which is defined as non-licensable work or NNLW, should receive additional task-specific information, instruction and training.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

      Entry Requirements<\/h2>\r\n\r\n

      The Non Licensable Work with Asbestos (UKATA) course is only for delegates who have previously passed the half day UKATA Asbestos Awareness course within 6 months. Evidence must be provided to the training provider of their eligibility.<\/p>","assessment":"

      Attainment of the learning outcome for the qualification will be assessed by a multiple-choice question paper examination consisting of at least 30 questions under exam conditions (1), (2). At the discretion of the Training Provider, the candidates shall be allowed to refer to any notes they make during the training sessions and the course notes or training manual provided by the Training Provider.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

      A candidate will be required to achieve a score of at least 24 out of 30 (80%) in the examination. Failure to achieve this will result in the candidate requiring to re-sit the examination under exam conditions.       2016 statistics released by the Government show that over 5,000 people died from asbestos-related diseases last year, and still rising!<\/p>\r\n\r\n
